While tens of thousands of today's most successful high tech companies concentrate on computers, the Internet and the World Wide Web, only a handful are positioning themselves for the next revolution in wireless and broadband satellite communications. SatCom Electronics, Inc. is one such company.

SatCom approaches the new Millennium focused on wireless communications products that represent tomorrow's technology today, thanks in part to a unique corporate culture that incubates and promotes values that are perhaps unusual in today's fast-paced business environment. SatCom's long-term prosperity is anchored by six virtues: innovation, contribution, quality, integrity, harmony and partnership.

And the company's ability to incubate products that answer questions yet to be asked, that serve needs not yet defined, is supported by the current crop of highly successful products that are revolutionizing the DBS-TV satellite industry.

Bringing the flat panel satellite antenna concept to life....

A flat panel, compact mobile satellite antenna has long been a dream of many, but SatCom has made this dream a reality. The company's compact, lightweight, one-piece flat antenna systems are emerging as elegant alternatives to traditional dishes on homes, businesses, boats, motorhomes, limousines...wherever flawless DBS-TV reception is desired. The SatCom PASSPort™ line includes fixed, mobile and portable versions that all take advantage of SatCom's phased-array technology: many small radiating elements working together in phase to form a peak energy beam aimed at satellite or wireless signals.

Finding those signals has never been easier, thanks to SatCom's handheld Digital Satellite Seeker, the smallest and perhaps simplest device of its kind. Its easy-to-read LCD numerical display maps a quick and easy path to the strongest satellite signals.

Other companies are now benefiting from SatCom's research and development milestone, thanks in part to availability of the company's patented TAPER™ chamber, the new standard to evaluating antenna design and effectiveness. Like the SatCom PASSPorts, the TAPER's hallmarks are its compact size, maximum efficiency, and high performance. Now other wireless antenna designers and manufacturers can improve their designs in a full turnkey chamber with the smallest footprint in the world.

SatCom Will Play a Major Role in the Future of Broadband Communications

While many companies may rest on their laurels with such a successful range of unique products, the SatCom team constantly strives to be miles ahead of the technology curve. SatCom's advanced technologies now and for the coming age of wireless communications are transcending current thinking and are certain to not only improve but revolutionize the way we send and receive information.

SatCom's QDish™ will be capable of generating multiple beams aimed at multiple satellites simultaneously. The QPanel™ architectural element will unobtrusively enhance wireless signal quality and coverage of cell phones, PDAs and other wireless devices used in business, while eliminating interference. The SatCom MPass™ will simplify and improve home and office digital-wireless multimedia distributions and SatCom's PSAT™ technology will be dedicated to broadband Internet and multimedia satellite wireless communications.

SatCom's research and development efforts have also led to breakthroughs in high definition television. The company's new HDTVision™ will include a line of special antennas and receivers used for receiving local digital TV and high definition TV broadcasts on an existing analog television.

But it is the future of broadband wireless communications that occupies much of SatCom's remarkable research and development efforts today. Emerging technologies will bring unprecedented efficiency to broadband data compression for audio, video and multimedia and will facilitate wireless satellite communications to and from even micro devices.

In the not-too-distant future, how we communicate will bear little resemblance to the way we communicate today. It will be easier, robust and more efficient… and instantaneous, thanks in part to the work being accomplished at the SatCom labs today. The company plans to continue turning brilliant concepts into brilliant products that will make our lives more enjoyable and efficient....bringing the world closer together through innovation.

The Engine That Runs the Company is its People...

Engineers, scientists, product specialists, marketers...warehouse workers, assemblers, front office personnel...they all share a common belief in the company values, the six pillars of its corporate culture: innovation, contribution, quality, integrity, harmony and partnership.

Reinforcing this culture is strong leadership from the company founder, Dr. H. H. Chung, a distinguished expert in the broad field of wireless communications. Dr. Chung has been dedicated to designing phased array and adaptive array antenna technology for mobile satellite communications for seventeen years. He's made significant contributions in developing phased array antenna systems for NASA programs and has been honored with numerous accolades from Teledyne, TRW, and NASA. An Ohio State University (OSU) alumni, Dr. Chung holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and works closely with OSU's ElectroScience Laboratory and laboratory director Dr. W. Dennie Burnside in completing cutting-edge research and sponsored product development for SatCom.

Dr. Dennie Burnside is an internationally renowned expert in areas related to wireless communications. As a professor and director of the ElectroScience Laboratory at OSU, he provides technical leadership for all projects supported by SatCom and performed at OSU.
